Welcome to Osaka

Osaka prefecture is the center of West Japan, with the second largest GDP and population, only 2.5 hours from Tokyo by bullet train.
Osaka has always performed important roles in Japanese history: it was a key traffic point in ancient era (3rd to 7th century). In 16th century, Osaka became a political center under Toyotomi Hideyoshi. In Edo period (17th to 19th century), Osaka was a commercial and logistic center. Osaka kept its status as a center of culture, art and industry until the beginning of the 1920’s.
Osaka holds Kansai International Airport (KIX) as a hub of LCC and is rich in cultural heritage and attractions. Osaka has a notable advantage to attract foreign tourists. There is also a Casino Plan. With those touristic resources, a revitalization of Osaka is now in attention.

Other principle cultural heritage and tourist attractions are:
  • Tomb of Nintoku emperor (one of the three World largest tomb)
  • Osaka castle (Japanese three most famous castle)
  • Ningyo Johruri Bunraku Puppet theatre (UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage)
  • Kamigata Kabuki theatre, Rakugo (Comic story telling), Manzai
  • Universal Studio Japan
  • Shinsaibashi High End Brand Street
  • Umeda Sky Building
